Patricia Comber MBE

It is with sadness we announce the death of Patricia (Pat) Comber MBE, peacefully in her sleep on Thursday 23rd November 2023.

Pat joined what was to become Wellingborough Open Archery Club in 1965 and since then been heavily involved in the sport of archery at both county and regional levels. In 2008, she and Eric Jackson, were the founders of Pemberton Maid Marion archery club, where they became heavily involved in the provision of archery to disabled and disadvantaged juniors at Pemberton in the following years. This aspect of the sport was a passion of Pat’s.

Pat never married and lived with her sister in Wellingborough. Awarded the MBE in 2000 she was a county coach and at one time also a judge, freely giving her time and advice in these areas of our sport. Having contributed such an enormous amount of her life and energy to archery, she will be greatly missed.

The funeral of Pat Comber will be held at Wellingborough Crematorium at 12.00.noon on Wednesday 13th December with a wake at the Stags Head, Great Doddington afterwards. The family have asked for family flowers only and dress is smart casual or archery club colours for any archers attending.
